Super Mario Galaxy Film Preview Arrives, Unveiling Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that focused exclusively on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
Following up on the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will propel Mario to the outer limits of the universe. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Classic Games
Similar to the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. Throughout his extensive trek, he will encounter once more some familiar faces, including the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also features references to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Come Back and Grow
The feature will welcome back of the initial voice actors, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is planned to debut close to the 40-year celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. title. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.
Nintendo confirmed a trio of new releases officially announced for 2026, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
