Springfield's Favorite Family Arrives in Rocket League: But It's Not the Vehicle You're Hoping For
It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Epic Games' battle royale, but this isn't the sole place where enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the world of Springfield. The beloved show is coming over to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, bringing along an vehicle customization option that will also be usable in the Fortnite universe. However, if gamers will truly desire to equip it is a different matter, as fans have their hearts set on just one Springfield car everyone is eager to get behind the wheel of, and this isn't it.
The Dream Vehicle
Although most players would undoubtedly love to face off behind the wheel of Homer's custom creation—the famously flawed car Homer designed personally in the classic episode "the one where he meets Herb"—regrettably, that isn't what players are receiving. Not even receiving the massive SUV, the enormous truck featured in the tenth season. Instead, fans will obtain the family's standard well-worn sedan, which has been in the family since the show's early days. Though this specific vehicle has seen better days, it stands as an iconic element of the show. And for players who analyze Rocket League vehicle dimensions, the trusty sedan shares the same hitbox as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car
And it's not the only customization item from the show coming to the game. The event will also include a series of challenges to unlock more rewards, all of which are Simpsons-themed. As detailed in a press release, the missions will task participants to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are the show's seasons, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ house, and travel a specific distance sufficient for acquiring the ideal pastries!"
While the full lineup of earnable items isn't yet disclosed, here is what's been announced up to this point:
- Blinky topper
- Homer's hedge-themed banner
- Garbage-themed wheels
- 20,000 XP per challenge
If the key art is a reliable guide, it appears players will also receive wheels featuring a television showing the show's opening credits, Kang and Kodos topper, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and boost effects themed to burning tires and Krusty Burger.
Event Timing and Fortnite Connection
This event coincides with the major The Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which brings a brand-new map of Springfield, as well as a month-long seasonal progression system. This special Rocket League and Simpsons celebration launches on Saturday, Nov. 1 and concludes on Nov. 17.
