Nearly 25,000 homes in southeastern Queensland were left without power on the start of the week after powerful weather events impacted the state, bringing wind gusts hitting over 100 km/h.
Substantial Ice Stones and Widespread Impact
Residents observed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in some areas. Meteorological experts verified that multiple regions across Queensland had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

State Emergency Services responded to 598 requests for assistance across the region, mainly for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

Moist weather were expected to linger along large portions of Queensland's east this week as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was forecast to be the wettest day, with persistent severe weather risk expected across multiple regions of both regions.
Safety Concern
Medical authorities cautioned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
