Chalobah Poised to Take Over from Marc Guehi in Three Lions Squad

Trevoh Chalobah playing for England

The Chelsea star followed his brother Nathaniel in representing England, emerging as the 21st duo of brothers to be selected for the national team.

The Chelsea defender is set to join up with the Three Lions selection to fill in for unavailable Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old footballer is scheduled to join the national side for England's remaining World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Serbia, although it has still not been officially announced.

The Three Lions have already qualified for the upcoming World Cup.

Chalobah earned his first invitation under England manager Thomas Tuchel in the month of May and then earned his first cap against Senegal.

In September, Tuchel remarked Chalobah was unfortunate to be excluded from the selection for qualifiers against Serbia and Andorra, and additionally did not select him for the next October international break.

Tuchel has been an important influence in Chalobah's development, having awarded him his Chelsea first-team bow in the year 2021.

Chalobah has played in all but four games for Chelsea this season, with the side in third place in the English top flight, in the EFL Cup quarter-finals and in the league phase of the Champions League.

Guehi picked up a foot problem in Crystal Palace's Europa Conference League victory over AZ Alkmaar in their last match.

There are likely to be other additions to the selection. Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe has confirmed that both winger Anthony Gordon (hip injury) and shot-stopper Nick Pope (concussion symptoms) are set to pull out from the England setup.
