BF6 Gamers Concur: Missions Are Overly Demanding
The debut of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 received broad praise, especially for its premier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, concurrent player counts surged to nearly 750,000. Yet, despite its popularity, a growing number of players are protesting against a portion of the release's toughest challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.
Players have started turning to personalized games made via Battlefield Portal to finish these tasks, emphasizing just how demanding these missions have become.
Grasping Battlefield 6 Objectives
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, as opposed to the regularly refreshed day-to-day and weekly tasks. There are four classes of assignments, but where most merely grant outfits and select equipment, completing the weapon assignments is the exclusive means of acquiring 12 of the 41 key firearms available in the game.
Several of these restricted firearms may soon find their way on rankings for the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Player Outcry via Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are justifiably expressing their worries about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. An individual player highlighted one of the most egregious examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs
"This mission is so atrocious and entirely ill-conceived, I want to scream in frustration," is a quote that summarizes just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many advantages in battle as it had in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.
At the same time, hipfiring an LMG is wildly inaccurate and functions solely at point-blank proximity, which is seldom the location you want to be. That player also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that task would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.
Another Overly Demanding Challenge
One more community participant highlighted another ridiculously tough challenge, now in the long-range weapon type to obtain the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills over 200m with marksman guns
This is difficult enough on its own, but there's another important point to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at such a long range.
There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but since there are only nine maps in the game at present, it restricts you to playing a specific urban map, Mirak Valley, and possibly a classic map in a best-case scenario if you plan to engage from afar from a significant distance.
The Alternative Method
However, there is a solution: Battlefield Portal. This portal feature is a tool that allows you to make custom game modes on any map you prefer, including AI opponents. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't really seem like the intended gameplay experience.
But when tackling the tasks in a normal session appears to work against fun, since you are forced to participate in such an atypical style that harms both you and your squad, is it surprising for finishing these in a custom game so allies are not impaired?
Future Adjustments
It should not be shocking if a number of these missions are adjusted to be less difficult in the near future, because if they're not, some players simply won't get their hands on the restricted guns.
At the moment, the player base continues to express their views on these challenging in-game tasks, expecting a more balanced gaming experience in subsequent patches.
